Lou Dobbs Rips Olbermann and Garofalo
Apr 22nd, 2009 by jenjen

If you haven’t seen Keith Olbermann’s interview with Janeane Garofalo, you need to watch it. This is what happens every time a Democrat is in the White House these days. The left-wing extremists like these two idiots spew their hatred all over the media, and send people running back to the right.

Here is Lou Dobbs’ comments on the aforementioned interview-he is right on.

Bigotry is Alive and Well in America
Apr 21st, 2009 by jenjen

The media is all abuzz about the Miss USA pageant that was held this past Sunday night-not over who won, but who didn’t win. Miss North Carolina was crowned Miss USA in the end, but all of the talk is about the first runner-up, Miss California, Carrie Prejean.

Did Prejean fall on stage? No. Did her swimsuit reveal too much? No. Did she make a scene when she didn’t win? No. The fact is, she lost the pageant because she was honest and said she was against gay marriage.

It all happened when one of the judges, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who is openly gay, posed to her this question:

Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage. Do you think that every state should follow suit, why or why not?”

I have to believe that at this point, Prejean had to know this was not good for her. She could answer it honestly, and possibly alienate the judges and others, or she could give some politically “correct” answer and not be true to herself. Her answer:

I think it’s great Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what in my country, in my family I think that marriage should be between a man and a woman. no offense to anybody there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be, between a man and a woman.

Not surprisingly, there was a mixed reaction from the crowd. The expression on judge Hilton’s face also demonstrated displeasure with her response. Later on Hilton’s blog he referred to the answer as the “worst answer in pageant history”, and referred to Prejean as a “dumb bitch”.

According to Hilton, “Miss USA should represent everyone”. I don’t know what statistics Hilton has to back this up, but last I looked not “everyone” in the USA was in favor of gay marriage. As a matter of fact, his own state of California voted it down. Perhaps Hilton needs to step out of his Hollywood bubble for awhile and spend some time with more mainstream Americans.

In Hilton’s own words, Prejean lost because of her answer:

She lost it because of that question. She was definitely the front-runner before that.

Hilton later backed down a bit and said that Prejean could have gotten by with a less “political” answer. Essentially, Prejean could have given a “spin” answer which really was no answer at all. To her credit, Prejean was honest. Is that not what we should desire in people?

Even if the judging panel had gone ahead and crowned Prejean the winner, Hilton would have protested:

I would have gone up on stage, I shit you not, and snatched the tiara off her head and run out the door.

So, Hilton would have accepted her if her beliefs matched his own, or she lied

Carrie Prejean, Miss California

about them, but not if she were honest and transparent. If this is what the Miss USA title is about, Prejean is better off without it. This is typical Hollywood and far-left liberal politics-they preach tolerance, but are totally intolerant of anyone with opinions other than their own.

This is nothing more than bigotry, and it’s increasing against people who don’t hold the same beliefs as the far left. Whether due to religion, or whatever other reason, you just don’t cross them, or else.

Better be prepared: it’s going to only get worse.

Edit: One additional point-what kind of threat was Prejean to the gay marriage movement, anyway? Was a Miss USA going to have any sort of noticeable influence on the electorate on this issue? No. Was it likely that a Miss USA’s opinion on an issue was going to change people’s minds? No. Did she express any interest whatsoever in influencing people’s opinions on this? No. Would we have ever known her stance on this issue had it not been asked in front of millions of television viewers? Probably not.

It all boils down to her beliefs. And that, my friends, is bigotry.

A New Leader, and a Sense of Renewal
Jan 20th, 2009 by jenjen

I can’t help but feel rejuvenated today. Regardless of one’s political affiliation or beliefs, I don’t see how anyone could have watched the events of today at the Capitol and not felt a sense of pride. While Presidential inaugurations are almost always a lot of pomp and circumstance, this one had a different feeling about it. I felt a sense of renewal…almost like America was getting a chance to start over.

In reality, we are not starting over, as nice as that would be. Our country has serious issues with the economy, fuel production, the environment, and more. Our new President is inheriting a wealth of problems. While a positive is that he is coming in with overwhelming support from the citizens of the United States, a negative is that some might be putting too much hope in him personally. No matter how good one is, there is only so much one person can do. I hope that people will be patient with him, and supportive through both the good and the difficult times.

I’ve seen a lot of cheers for the departure of President Bush today. While I’m not sad to see him go, I do get upset by the caustic tone of some of the rhetoric. It is hateful, and counterproductive, and has done nothing but instill an even more negative cloud over our country for the past several years. Personally, I don’t see how he’s withstood it for all these years, and can only assume that he must be a very strong person to do so. I can only hope that now his detractors will cool it, though judging by some of the comments on sites like Twitter, some appear to not be able to let it go.

But on a more positive note, what amazed me today was how I watched the events-online. I watched the entire production, morning through evening, on CNN.com. CNN had a partnership with Facebook to bring live streams of the day’s events, and it was a lifesaver for me. My satellite is currently out of commission, meaning I have no television at home. I originally toyed with even staying at a hotel to watch the events, and was happy to learn of the opportunity to watch it online.

I not only had a live feed, but a reliable one. While I have to give some credit to my ISP (Verizon DSL), it is amazing the volume of viewers that watched it online, in the hundreds of thousands. Regardless, the servers held the load and was reliable for most. Maybe in four years when we do this again I will not take the day off, but instead just take my laptop with me to work to let the festivities play out in the background.

Anyway, all in all it was a very good day, and I hope this is the beginning of a more positive America.
